Friday was busier than Aeryn had anticipated somehow, with people coming in from out of town, followed by the rehearsal at the hotel where the ceremony and reception would take place. And personally, she had no idea how anyone remembered how all of this sort of thing went, and she thought it was kind of stupid how much emphasis was put on something as simple as walking, but she'd go with it, as apparently these things were important. Or something.

Afterwards, the group made their way to a pizza place nearby to settle in and settle down and have one good night out before tomorrow got more stressful.

[Up early for SP. For bridal party, dates, and other guests to the Friday thingie yay!
ETA: For clarification, cuz a couple people have asked. If you were told you were welcome to the dinner, you were invited. Otherwise the wedding stuff takes place tomorrow.]
If pressed, Aeryn would say that the reason that she didn't sleep well last night was that she wasn't used to the bed after spending the weekend in the hotel, even though being transferred from place to place and sleeping in different places depending on assignment was practically ingrained into her genetic code. She hadn't slept well all weekend, actually, and it wasn't that she hadn't had a good time over homecoming. She really had. She liked being able to see her friends and catch up and be able to see them when she talked to them instead of using the phone. This was all while ignoring the Luxan, of course. And Lee.

There was just one little thing that just kept nagging at her.

Giving up early, Aeryn got up and dressed, and headed out, returning a while later with a bag in hand to lock herself in the bathroom. She'd wanted to do this earlier, just to have some sort of proof, but she didn't want to risk it ending up on the radio. Privacy was one plus Cambridge had over Fandom.

She read the directions about five times before taking the test, and about ten times after seeing the result, just in case she could blame this on not being a native English-reader. She knew better, though. She'd done it right, and she didn't think Aly would lie to her. She did consider making another trip out, though. Maybe a different brand would be wrong. Best out of three, even.
The apartment's looking more like an apartment, what with furniture and all, and Aeryn is even dressed more or less like Aeryn today, and overall she's just glad to see people.

As are the fish, who are looking very cheerful today. You can totally tell. And then they forget why they're cheerful three seconds later. Oh well.
After workshops, the girls head to meet Sam at the bridal shop in Alexandria to do a little thing called dress shopping. Aeryn would call it "getting it over with", which is why we're not asking her.

She's also trying not to make it look too obvious that she's not exactly in her element here. She's being really careful with how she says words in front of the workers who might not be used to how she sometimes mispronounces things, for one. And she actually takes the time to sign up for the mailing list- not that she knows what one is- because it means stalling in getting to the dresses.

It's a good thing Aeryn got over that slight technophobia a while back, because she's spending a lot of time on the computer lately. Dress shopping is Tuesday, and she figures it's a good idea to do some research beforehand, just so she can't be talked into anything she shouldn't be.

...This is so the girliest thing ever.

Aeryn has a headache. This might have to do with being out way too late staring at the sparkly cabin with Mel. She couldn't even be out late for a good reason. It had just been impossible to look away.

So she's not in the best mood today. And she's trying to go over the binder, but is having trouble concentrating on the words. Which is why she got out the laptop to just start looking at sites and wondering why this one has three pages of napkins.

There is always Elvis, really.

[Please bother her.]
Aeryn actually had a good weekend. Prom had been good. Even being found by a son from another reality hadn't been so bad. Umberta could go, but she liked D'Argo. She liked having him in Revolutions and watching him know what to do in a Prowler and she'd had fun kind of showing him off to people. And knowing that she'd lucked out and/or raised her child right.

And then of course her birthday had kind of gone off course when they had to take him back to the vortex and watch him go. She misses that boy so much and she won't admit that it hurts, or how badly. She never really wanted children, and had convinced herself that she and John wouldn't be genetically compatible, being different species. Yeah, that's apparently wrong.

She shouldn't be this emo. Regardless, she's perfectly content to just not get out of bed for a while. Shut up.
Aeryn's a little fuzzy on last night, except for that part where she feels terrible. Her head is pounding, and with a groan, she pulls a pillow over her head and hopes it's not really Tuesday and she doesn't have class this morning.
Aeryn walked around for a while after Gun Club, finally making a quick call to Rory before going back to the room. Maybe it wouldn't be too uncomfortable if she had to leave later.

She's quiet when she opens the door and steps inside.
After stopping by Anakin's office in SP, la, Aeryn comes back to the room. Spending some time in the gym last night helped a lot, so she's at least acting like a normal person again. It'll get less weird.

She's about to go feed the fish when she sees Bertram sitting behind the tank, eyestalks twitching a little as he watchs Bruno swim. "Yes, I know, it's relaxing," she says. "Too bad you're a machine."

Bertram just beeps at her and continues watching. Even a DRD should have hobbies. Probably.

[Open. Yes, I am bored out of my mind today. Entertain me.]
Amazingly, John hasn't glomped back onto the Wii after returning from Disneyland, so Aeryn has a little time in the room. She hadn't wanted to do her gift exchange with Rory in public for one little reason, so quiet time is good.

Well, it would be quieter if she could stop humming that frelling "It's a Small World" song.

[For Rory.]
Aeryn spent some time downstairs at the Christmas tree party thing, but afterwards returned to 209. She's been spending most of her time here since Thursday's Ethics class, thinking about that and her talk with Rory. She knows John won't be happy that she's avoiding him again, but she doesn't need distraction right now. She needs to think about things and deal with it.

Also, if she could stop applying her personal experiences to the Vader/Anakin situation, that would be great. Just because she wouldn't do something doesn't mean he wouldn't. Even if she can easily rationalize some things. Even if the people she left behind in the Peacekeepers probably think of her like she thinks of him now.

She closes the door to the room, and then takes a seat at the desk. She hasn't spent a lot of time here in months, and she's not an especially sentimental person, so she's almost surprised that she remembers where everything is. Her yearbook's there, along with several drawings she'd forgotten were here, and a small stack of printed pictures she's not ready to look at yet. She sets those aside for a while, concentrating on the yearbook, specifically certain pages.
It's only been a day, but Aeryn's discovered that things get really quiet without John around. He hasn't been home since school started last year. He's always been in this room. And now it's weird, even if he's only a state or two or however many it is (ask her where Svalbard is and she knows it; North Carolina, not so much).

She's gone for the walk/run that she's tended to make habit, she's fed the animals, and she's got a book out to study, though she's not really looking at it.

Finally tiring of the silence, she looks around, and sees Bertram skittering around on the carpet. "You can make some noise, can't you?" she asks.

He stops, the eyestalks turn towards her, and he begins making random beeping noises as he moves.

[Door's closed, post is open.]
Aeryn is really very good at avoiding people when she chooses to. And right now, it seems like she has a lot of people to avoid for one reason or another. She's tired of people leaving, she's tired of arguing, and while working things out is good advice, she isn't sure right now how to work things out. Trying didn't work out too well.

So she's back in 209 again, knowing John will probably be upset about that later, and not caring much. It's much easier to not deal right now, to just sit there and not think. Which is working, really.

If there's another good thing about the Peacekeepers, there's no need for unnecessary drama there.

[Door is closed, post is open, girl is pissy, mun needs distraction.]

Aeryn's had a rough couple of days, to say the least. She still doesn't remember most of what happened yesterday, though she does remember waking up in the clinic. And today she's tired, but not so much that she wasn't more social than she has been pretty much at any other time ever. Either way, she's glad to be home.

And as soon as the door to the room is closed, she says, "Shower," and heads in that direction.
All in all, Aeryn hasn't had the worst week. She discovered bowling, which is more fun when Anakin has to act like a bird, her classes have been going well, visiting people, and... other stuff. She's even been able to deal with random forts and their aftermath and accidental propositioning-but-not. Part of her blames that Massachusetts thing. She's just comfortable right now. In general. In a manner of speaking.

And then earlier she made a phone call she thinks she had to, and just kind of stays in the room for a while.

[Door's closed, post is open if you want to come by. Might be slow pinging at times, but my breaks are becoming more and more frequent, so that might not even make a difference, ha.]
Maybe Aeryn's a little paranoid. Which is why as soon as she's finished checking through 238, she's in her own room, looking around for little gremlin hiding places. This involves a pair of rubber gloves- one can never be too careful- and a swiped knife. She is taking no chances, okay? They could hide in shoes.

[Door's closed but the post is open.]
Aeryn had an interesting day yesterday. One little gremlin bite led to her thinking she was a captured princess, where she freaked out John, frustrated someone who was very kind but new to heroing, yelled at Vladdie and called Rory a lesbian, was reminded of lava monsters by Dean Tick, nearly groped by Joxer who is going to die, maybe accidentally proposed to Bridge, decided Tim was too slow to deal with, tried to make Hamlet her butler, then was "rescued" by Anakin who ran away when she asked to make out with him. Aeryn will be killing herself today, yes.

And then she wandered to Caritas, where she was weird at John, threw a drink at GOB, and was a total bitch to Parker before she got up on the stage, only for it to wear off right at the end. Luckily John is the best boyfriend ever and got her home. Later there will be phone calls and listening to the radio, but for now Aeryn is not. leaving. the bed.
It's pure determination that has Aeryn insisting they go back to the cabins from Caritas, because John kept talking about going back to Meerkat and frell it, they're going back to Meerkat. She's okay enough to get them back to the cabin without a problem, but four drinks mean she still doesn't realize she's got an umbrella in her hair. That'll suck when she wakes up tomorrow with it stabbing her in the ear.

And for the record, she doesn't shove John out of bed. Even if it does seem a little small for all the space he insists on taking up.
Aeryn starts to go to 238, like she would on a normal day. She even makes it there for a little while. But after not having a voice and finding out a possible explanation of why, getting increasingly frustrated at not being able to communicate, getting her ass kicked by Callisto, and having her date plans with John fall through, Aeryn's not in the best of moods.

And then she finds out the frelling toaster is on the loose, she decides she's going back to her room. She's glad to have everyone shut up, is disturbed to find out how quiet this place really is without voices, and that's her last straw. She goes back to 209 and falls asleep there. Kind of. But not really. With her door locked.
