The Apartment, Cambridge MA- Saturday afternoon

Aeryn generally had one day off a week, and she was especially glad for it today. Talyn had been up most of the night seemingly for no reason and going in to work today would have been Interesting. Of course it meant he was tired now, and was sleeping comfortably which Aeryn knew because she was still getting up from the living room often to check on him.

Someone should probably stop her before she wears tracks in the carpeting.


[Open for calls, E-mails, whatever look I don't care, I just know I'm probably gonna be here in bed all today and demand entertainment.]

Anakin decided to make a call up to Connecticut.

Funny how that made Aeryn's phone ring.

It was also kind of funny how she kind of made a mad dash for the phone and answered, "Ring quieter," like it was his fault.

He totally called Masssachusetts, too. Wtf, self.

"If I knew how to do that, I would," he promised. "Hi there."

"Hi," she said, closing the door to the baby's room before going to sit down. "I haven't heard from you in a while." Okay, it was all her fault, but still.

"Strange how a baby changes things like that," Anakin teased. "He's asleep?"

"I should hope so, he was up for most of the night," she said. "Which probably means he'll be up all night tonight, too, but that means it's John's turn."

"I'm sorry," Anakin said. "I should probably come visit so that I know how this works, huh? I got Luke when he was eighteen and sleeping through the night."

"You should visit anyway, but if I could learn it, I have a feeling you could," she admitted.

"Rory and I could come up and give you and John a night out," Anakin offered. "Talyn and I will be good friends until he's replaced by the most beautiful and brilliant child on this planet."

He was sort of kidding.

There was silence, because Aeryn was glaring at her phone.

Anakin laughed. "Aeryn, I'm sorry. I shouldn't tease when you're tired."

[can_be_more]

"I wouldn't tease when you're not the one who gets to go through labor," she corrected.

[sith_happened]

"I've gotten limbs cut off. It's probably similar?"

[can_be_more]

"Something tells me it's different. And goes on much longer. You don't want to know."

"I have books that go into extensive detail," Anakin admitted.

He was totally going to be the guy correcting the doctor.

"...Really?" She hadn't read a thing. In large part because she was not exactly the literacy poster girl.

"There are highlighters," he said. "The last time I went through this...it didn't go so well."

[can_be_more]

She frowned, but said gently, "You can plan all you want, but things tend to go very differently. And not necessarily in a bad way."

There was a small silence, then an awkward laugh. "We like to plan everything out," he said. "Sometimes it works better than others."

"I'll let you have your dream for now," she said dryly. "How is everything over there?"

"It's Fandom," Anakin said. "I have another grandson here now, my granddaughter is having the worst three months in history, and I had to fight Darth Vader in lightsaber combat so he wouldn't take over the island a few weeks back. Same as usual?"

"That... sounds a bit more complicated than usual," Aeryn said. "I thought I would just hear about more dinosaurs."

"Luke's son is here. Not the one that's a baby," Anakin said, "um, obviously. And both of Jaina's brothers died in combat back in August. She says she's fine and I really want to believe her...but it's both of her brothers."

"I can see where that would be hard," said Aeryn, and though she couldn't relate exactly she had enough family issues to want to gloss over that. "Since when does Luke have a son?"

"Different Luke," Anakin said, sounding a little disturbed. "This one is in his sixties. Doesn't seem right."
