Room 238, Thursday morning

The summer's almost over and Aeryn still hasn't learned about that thing called 'laziness'. It's not too early, but Aeryn's up already and just laying there isn't doing anything for her. Not wanting to wake John, she sits up and starts to get out of bed.

"And you had no reaction to me thinking you were," Aeryn says, and she might be a little disappointed in that.

"You told me to stop! I wasn't going to push you," he says.

"I was expecting you to!"

He throws his hands up and shakes his head. "You confuse me," he says and flops down beside her.

"Welcome to my world," Aeryn says back.

"Stop keeping track of when you were last annoyed."

"I can't," she says. "I'm not used to not being annoyed. It's very disconcerting."

"It's not a bad thing to be happy."

"It's new."

"It's a good thing," he says and snuggles up again.

She curls into him. "I'm not used to it. Especially on a continual basis."

"It doesn't mean you're still not badass," he tells her. "Just that you're having a good time."

"I am," she says, and doesn't specify which of those two things she's answering.

"Then stop picking fights," he tells her lightly.

"No. Last time I picked a fight we almost gave the entire campground a show."

He laughs and kisses her cheek. "True. I'm still waking up so none of that right now."

"If we went from arguing about cuddling straight to sex, I'd really wonder about us," she admits, but she's smiling.

"Can we go back to sleep now?"

Aeryn sighs. "You can sleep. I'll go for a run or something."

"I'll go with you," he says and pulls himself out of bed.

She looks a little surprised when she sits up. "I thought you were tired."

"This'll wake me up," he says and grabs a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

Aeryn gets up, and she might be smiling a little again. "Okay."
