Room 238, Wednesday afternoon

After stopping by Anakin's office in SP, la, Aeryn comes back to the room. Spending some time in the gym last night helped a lot, so she's at least acting like a normal person again. It'll get less weird.

She's about to go feed the fish when she sees Bertram sitting behind the tank, eyestalks twitching a little as he watchs Bruno swim. "Yes, I know, it's relaxing," she says. "Too bad you're a machine."

Bertram just beeps at her and continues watching. Even a DRD should have hobbies. Probably.

"Just a colder winter," he says, making his way into the kitchen for some cookies.

"Hm," she says, and comes over to lean against the wall. "How are you?"

"Fine," he says, half smiling. "Cold."

"You'll warm up," she assures him with a little smile back.

"I already am," he says, offering her a cookie.

She takes it and gives him a "Thank you," not entirely sure why she's still being quiet around him. It's been a hard week.

"How're you?"

"I'm okay," she says, shrugging a little and breaking off a piece of the cookie. "Improving."

"Improving?"

She shakes her head, not knowing how to explain it, and says, "I feel better."

"Oh." He nods. "What helped?"

"I went to the gym last night. Worked some of it out, talked to Rory a little," she shrugs.

"Oh," he says, a little sad that he hadn't helped. "That's good."

"It just takes a little while to get used to things," she tells him, finishing the cookie and brushing crumbs off her hand.

"I know that," he says and puts the cookies away.

"Yeah," she says, not sure if she said something wrong, so she's just watching him.

"What?" he asks when he feels her eyes on him.

"Nothing," she says, because she learned nothing from Monday. She's still watching him, though.

"Why're you staring at me?"

"I'm not staring," she protests.

"I'm not gonna go insane," he says. "Not today, at least."

She's a little surprised by that. "I wasn't expecting you to."

"Oh." He swirls a hand around his head. "Because of this thing."

"I know," she says slowly. "You think I'm waiting for that?"

"I think you're watching for signs that it's getting stronger," he says and nods.
