Room 238, Wednesday afternoon

After stopping by Anakin's office in SP, la, Aeryn comes back to the room. Spending some time in the gym last night helped a lot, so she's at least acting like a normal person again. It'll get less weird.

She's about to go feed the fish when she sees Bertram sitting behind the tank, eyestalks twitching a little as he watchs Bruno swim. "Yes, I know, it's relaxing," she says. "Too bad you're a machine."

Bertram just beeps at her and continues watching. Even a DRD should have hobbies. Probably.

That's not making the frown go away. "You think you're going to?"

"No," he says. "But I know I can. With this thing around."

"You can always have it checked out," Aeryn says, knowing it won't go over well.

"No one will know what they're looking for," he says.

"Maybe not here, but... maybe where I'm from. The technology is from there, I'm sure someone would know what to do."

"I thought you couldn't go back there."

"It's possible to stay out of Peacekeeper territory. Nothing I'd want to try permanently, but I think this would be a good enough reason to go back," she says.

He shrugs uncomfortably again. "I don't know."

"Just think about it, all right?" she says. "I'm not asking for a decision."

"Sure," he says. "I'll think about it."

She really hopes he does. "But you're okay right now?"

"Right now, I'm okay," he says.

It's always a relief to hear that. She leans forward to lightly touch her forehead to his.

"Are you worried?"

"A little," Aeryn answers honestly. "But I trust you."

"What're you worried about?"

"You," she says. "I know it scares you."

"Yeah," he says. "I mean, are you scared of anything happening?"

She frowns, shaking her head. "No."

He just nods.

"I mean that," she says seriously.

"I believe you," he says, looking down at his feet.

"Look at me," she tells him.

It takes him a moment but he does lift his eyes to hers.
