A bar in the Yale area, Friday night

Aeryn didn't know much about bachelorette parties, except that they didn't usually involve paintball. Therefore online research had ended up with everyone in a bar near Yale, and a few little accessories that she didn't get personally but thought Rory would like. And she was getting a frelling veil.

Lorelai had no idea how she'd ended up the responsible adult. Because seriously. "First round's on me!"

"I can't believe I had to use a fake id," Sam grumbled under her breath. Still, it would be good to see everyone, so she ordered a beer and lounged against the bar. Maybe she'd drunk-dial Cameron later just to amuse herself.

Oh, look, the bachelorette in question.

Who, of course, was wearing the usual -- a tacky T-shirt, and a veil. Even if she wouldn't be wearing one next week. "No one let me drunk dial the future Mr. Rory, okay?"

Angela, who was happy to be there, was nonetheless sulking at her cranberry juice.

Stupid not being allowed to drink at a bachelorette party.

Maybe a baby with fins wouldn't be so bad ...

"Where would the fun be in that?" She got up to hug her offspring. "Hey, you. All surfaced from finals?"

"I don't know my grades yet," she said, nodding, "but I'm in the clear!"

Lane...knew no one here. Except Lorelai. And Rory, of course. Okay, really, she just didn't know the girls Rory had gone to school with. But she was trying to be friendly, so she didn't sit too far away, and meanwhile tilted her head to try to hear the music over the noise of the bar.

Paris also knew no one here, except Rory and Lorelai. And she didn't like the others. They all looked fairly dim and she was a little frightened to ask about their schools and holy god, it was like being around Madeline and Louise again.

...she really hoped Madeline and Louise hadn't been invited.

Sam took a seat near one of the bridesmaids she didn't know. Better to get this out of the way, and the girl had a take-charge attitude that made Sam wonder if she was in the military. "How was your first year of school?"

There. That shouldn't be too painful a topic, right?

"I bet I could have a psychic moment, and tell you," she laughed, "but seeing all those A's in one place has become quite commonplace."

Angela vaguely recognized Lane, so the girl got a quick smile and a half-wave. "So you get to be a bridesmaid too, huh?"

One of the reasons Aeryn had for maybe considering having this baby soon was that it was still weird to go to bars and events and not drink. She'd just be sticking with Coke and trying to be social. Which didn't really work considering she was still Aeryn.

Lane shook her head. "My mom's not letting me," she told her, sighing and rolling her eyes. "It's a miracle I'm out at a bar at," she consulted her watch, "...ten PM on a Friday night. Mom thinks we're at a quilting circle."

Paris eyed the other girl suspiciously, but hey, this was a social event, and she could be charismatic. "Busy. But then, they tend to be, when you go to an Ivy and take fifteen credits your freshman year, due to being pre-med and wanting to get into Harvard's medical school, because so help me I'm not getting turned down twice."

There, see?

"You don't know. This could be the semester where I flunk everything," Rory said solemnly.

"Ohhhhhh," Angela said, sympathetically, as a small smile played over her face. "Only, this so is a quilting circle. We're making blankets for the orphans in Bangladesh."

Aeryn just looked at her. "Mr. Rory?"

"Yeah, Anakin doesn't know he's getting called that," she told her. "That's on the down-low."

Rory, shockingly, was not even drunk yet.

"Starving orphans," Lane agreed, nodding seriously. "Starving, uneducated orphans."

"Yeah, and you could go steal a car, too, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for a phone call from the pokey."

"Starving, uneducated, cold orphans," Angela continued. "The blankets will help them study."

"Two cycles in and I still have to ask. Down low where?"
