A bar in the Yale area, Friday night

Aeryn didn't know much about bachelorette parties, except that they didn't usually involve paintball. Therefore online research had ended up with everyone in a bar near Yale, and a few little accessories that she didn't get personally but thought Rory would like. And she was getting a frelling veil.

Sam took a seat near one of the bridesmaids she didn't know. Better to get this out of the way, and the girl had a take-charge attitude that made Sam wonder if she was in the military. "How was your first year of school?"

There. That shouldn't be too painful a topic, right?

Paris eyed the other girl suspiciously, but hey, this was a social event, and she could be charismatic. "Busy. But then, they tend to be, when you go to an Ivy and take fifteen credits your freshman year, due to being pre-med and wanting to get into Harvard's medical school, because so help me I'm not getting turned down twice."

Sam nodded. "Yeah, my first year at the Air Force Academy was like that, except for the medical school part." And the fact that she'd gone about twenty years ago. "Do you have an area of specialty picked out yet?"

She seemed like the type who would, yes.

Paris kind of marveled that she hadn't scared her off. "Internal medicine, probably. Best money and most coverage there."

"Harvard med," she said determinedly, nodding. "Yale med might work too. If I have to."

"It's good to have focus," Sam nodded, finishing her beer and signaling for another, "but you don't want to narrow your scope so far that you miss out on opportunities."

After working with Daniel Jackson and Jack O'Neill, Sam had a slightly different neurosis scale than most of the planet. Although she did still recognize it when she saw it. "Just a thought, based on my own vast experience."
