Room 238, Thursday early afternoon

Aeryn's learned one really important lesson in the last year or so, namely that there is a big difference between random emo and dealing with the fallout of being under a lot of stress. And despite yesterday's talk, she's okay with taking some extra time to do her usual run around the preserve a second time. She'd had a lot of energy she just needed to burn off.

So she's in a better mood when she comes back to the room, though she's not sure how long that will last, if today's anything like yesterday.

"Is there anything you need to talk about?"

He frowns. "Like what?"

"I don't know, but while we're getting everything out there, is there anything else bothering you?" she asks. "Not just problems with me."

He thinks about it for a moment. "I want you to know that I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure you're happy and comfortable when we move. I know it's a big thing, a huge thing, but I want you to know that."

"I know," she says. "Do you really think it will be that difficult?"

"I don't know," he says. "We're young and just starting out. It'll be tough."

"We're good at dealing with tough," she points out.

"I know," he says, nodding in agreement. "And we'll have some fun too."

"You think?" she says, and this is the first time in the conversation she hasn't felt exhausted.

"Sure," John says. "It'll be our place, just us. And we can decorate it and we'll be adults and it'll be a new experience."

"What's the difference between that and what we do here?" she asks, curious.

"Because that apartment will be ours."

"This isn't? I mean..." One day she's going to learn things like this.

"This dorm room isn't, not really," he says. "It's the school's. The apartment's bigger, quieter, more private and won't have cameras hovering around."

"So it won't be like this?" she asks.

"It'll be very different from this," he says. "And it'll be us officially living together."

"Will it be like television? I've seen that," she says.

"Will what be like television? Us living together?"

She nods. "Yes. Only with more common sense than the people there."

"Well, kinda," he says. "It'll be different because we're not the people on the tv but the basics will be the same."

She makes a face. "Do we have to associate with our neighbors, then?"

"Not if we don't want to."

"Good," she says. Those people scare her.

"We can stay inside the apartment all day long and cuddle."
