Room 238, Tuesday afternoon

All right, stopping in at Tex's shop hadn't gone well. And since she's learned not to steal Janet's medkit, she heads to 238. She knows where the medical supplies are, and since she's pretty sure she's going to start hurting somewhere as soon as the adrenaline wears off, she might as well have them at hand. She heads into the bathroom to get the supplies.

And then there's the matter of washing off the duck blood. Only in Fandom.


[Not godmodding anyone in or out of the room. She's just a little focused right now and bypassed anyone who might be there.]

"I would have thought the same thing, but," Aeryn says, and holds up an arm to finish the sentence nonverablly.

She rinses off the knife, deciding to do a better job of cleaning it later, and resheaths it. "The new Tex wanted to the code to get to the weapons. I could handle the weapons better than animals, but that's just me."

"Why'd new Tex want the weapons?" Angel asked.

"Something about barbecuing the school," she replies, almost casually. "At least she hasn't found a way to get in yet. Though considering she knew my name somehow, I'm not sure that will last."

Angel folded his arms and thought about it. "Told the mayor?"

Aeryn shakes her head. "There wasn't a post open. I thought about warning the principal, but walking in with blood and weaponry might have changed the focus of my report a little. New Tex didn't seem to be in a huge rush. I wasn't even followed."

Outside, a suspicious looking Grunt duck flies by the window and hovers for a moment.

Sean notices the movement and barks.

The duck raspberries Sean evilly.

Aeryn steps out of the bathroom to see the duck outside the window. "All right, I spoke too soon," she says.

The Grunt quacks a warning at Aeryn that might remind her of a Police song if she actually knew The Police and then flies off.

"Did that duck just quack Every Breath You Take?"

Aeryn blinks at him. "Um?"

"And yet? Still not the strangest thing that's happened to this school. Sean, no!" Angel grabbed Sean by the collar before the puppy could run out the closed window to chase the bird.

"Okay, you're being menaced by ducks. I can't imagine any dimension where that's a good thing."

"I could handle them a lot better if I wasn't worried about Rover or expulsion," she says. "I didn't even have opportunity to do anything while I was there. They just don't like me."

"Did you make fun of the way they walk?"

She stares at him, which is probably her default expression at him by now. "I was a little more worried about the person in armor bloodletting and turning brains into fish food," Aeryn says. "I wasn't concerned with how the ducks walked."

"I'm just saying it's not often you see a pissed off duck," Angel replied. "Well I see them. Apparently for you the odds of that are getting better all the time."

"And all I had to do was walk into a shop. If they ever join forces with the toaster, I don't stand a chance," she says dryly.

"Bite your tongue," Angel said, not half-serious. "So on a scale of zombies to me losing my soul and finding out there's a convent in town, where are we rating Tex doing the wacky and the sinister ducks?"

Aeryn's not sure how that scale works exactly. "Let me put it this way," she says. "I got out of there. The new Tex is focused on destruction and the ducks not only attacked, they're watching me. I'm taking it seriously."

"Then so am I," Angel said. "How can I help?"

Aeryn shrugs. "I'm not sure, exactly. I wouldn't be able to fight Tex, or New Tex, even if it came to that. Not with that armor. And I have no problem with killing a duck or twenty. Other than that... I don't know."

Angel took a seat as he pondered this. "What's the armor like? Could it stand up to super-strength?"

"I don't know," she says, almost apologetically. "I've seen some of the weapons used, and they're pretty efficient. If the armor stands up to that, it has to be some pretty strong stuff. She didn't tell me much about it."

"Wonder how it'd affect Prof. Tick?" Angel mused aloud. "I hear he's darn near invulnerable."

She considers this. "He did use himself as a shield against the zombies," she remembers. "And bullets, if I remember correctly."

"He and I are talking now," Angel said. "If you want I could run this past him."

"I'd, um, appreciate that," Aeryn says. "You don't need to get caught up in all of this, you know."

"Souled," Angel said, pointing to himself. "It's what I do."

She smiles. "Right. Well, I'm glad you have something to do."

Angel got up and whistled for Sean to come over. "It's dark enough that I can take him for a walk. And let my player scurry afk for a little while like she needs to. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Tex and the ducks. If I see Prof. Tick, I'll fill him in."

She nods. "Thank you. Watch for ducks."

"This town does not get less weird," Angel replied. He secured Sean's leash and grabbed his coat. "C'mon boy. I'll be back later."
