Room 238, Monday night

Mondays are busy, and Aeryn's kind of glad to get back to the room at the end of the night. Even if it's technically not her room. Right about now she's thinking she's back to the gym maybe as early as tomorrow, because sore or not, this is ridiculous. No more getting thrown into walls, that's final.

She finally settles into a cross-legged position on John's bed to try to make her way through the reading assigned in Sociology of Violence. Or she could finish the Driver's Ed book... And Aeryn kind of hates school at the moment.

John unlocks his door, comes inside, and smiles when he sees Aeryn's already there. It's a good, odd feeling that he ignores for now.

"Homework?" he asks, tossing his keys on the table and kicking his shoes in all directions.

"Either that or some odd form or torture," she says, frowning at the reading and immediately abandoning it. She smiles up at him. "Hi."

"Hi," he says and drops a kiss on her lips. "How was the day?"

"Busy," she answers. "You?"

"About the same," he says, grabs a t-shirt and, well hell, Angel's not here, strips one shirt off and puts the other one on in front of her. "Two classes, trip to the library. All that jazz."

She blinks at the jazz part of that, but ignores it. "I'm reachable by phone again," she tells him. "My dot is just fine."

"Oh yeah?" He smiles again and takes off his jeans, making sure Callisto or Angel doesn't walk in the door. Grabbing a pair of comfortable pants, he slides those on instead and flops down beside her. "New phone?"

She nods. "Same number. I thought about going back into the basement to get the phone in case it still worked, then thought better of it. So, new phone," she explains.

"Cool." He reaches for her book and looks it over. "Little light reading?"

"Grissom," she says, like that explains it all.

John looks over the textbook. "Looks interesting. Read me something from your book."

She makes a face at him. "No," she says, and closes it. "Boring reading anyway."

"Aw." He frowns at the book. "So, I had to go to class before you woke up. How much longer did you end up sleeping this morning?"

"A while, and don't say what I know you're thinking," she says quickly.

John grins smugly. "What am I thinking?"

"That I needed it and you were right. Which isn't true."

He just keeps grinning. "So, if you didn't need it, why'd you sleep so long?"

Aeryn glares a little. "Bed was comfortable."

John's still smiling. "Why was the bed comfortable?"

"Maybe because there weren't two dozen people in the room?" she says, picking up the Driver's Ed booklet to swat at him.

He laughs when she hits him.

"Aw and here I thought it was because you liked sleeping in my bed!"

She shrugs a little. "That would be the easy answer."

He bounces up, kisses her cheek before flopping down again.

"Honey, what do you want for Valentine's Day?"

Thanks to Elizabeth, she's probably heard of all of the holidays, even if she doesn't know what they are. "You people have too many holidays," she sighs. "This is another gift-giving thing?"

"Kind of," John tells her. "Valentine's Day is more a day for sweethearts. Boyfriends and girlfriends, husbands and wives, wives and wives, husbands and husbands. A day to show your significant other how much you care."
