Room 209, Saturday afternoon

After talking with Isabel in the gym, Aeryn heads back up to her room. She's been given something to think about, even though she doesn't even know how to broach the topic with John at the moment. Which is fine as he's currently in detention anyway. Besides, they have to see Zhaan first, and that's going to take a bit of preparation as it is. She just isn't sure how much John will want to reveal and how much she'll have to say for him and how much trouble she'll get into about that. She's just had to learn how to be much more careful, that's all. It's a skill she should have had before.

She closes her door.

"And John was a way to get to his goal?" Cameron asks, managing not to ask if she is used to dealing with people like that.

"Apparently," she shrugs.

"It doesn't add up," he's back to talking to himself. "Last time we thought John lost, it turned out to be Drusilla."

Her eyes go wide. Parker told her Drusilla left while Aeryn was still with the Peacekeepers, but she does remember the threat Drusilla made against John. And now she's wondering if it's possible she didn't actually leave.

"Not that I'm saying it's her," Cameron quickly adds as he sees her reaction. "I don't think she's around anymore. Molly and I searched the entire island when Darla poisoned Angel. We didn't run into any vampires at all."

"Yeah," she nods, still thinking.

"All I'm saying is that it's Fandom and maybe there's another explanation beside him going crazy?" He sighs and rubs a hand through his hair. It's just that he's not sure what other explanation to give.

He watches Aeryn for a moment, realising they've only talked about John. "How are you doing?" He asks softly.

Aeryn's not even listening for the first part. She doesn't even catch the second question for a minute. "Oh," she says. "Fine."

Cameron raises an eyebrow.

"Don't start," she says immediately.

"Sorry, but if John has been like that around you the whole time, I find it hard to believe that you're just fine," he argues.

"I'm dealing with it," she counters, again, immediately.

Cameron sighs and pulls back, nodding. "Alright."

Aeryn sits in her desk chair, and just can't think of anything to say.

Another sigh and he doesn't really want to leave her like that. "Thanks for not killing Jaye on Thursday."

Cameron holds up his hands. "I'm sorry, I had no clue she was going to do that. Good project, though."

Aeryn actually laughs a little, because that was embarrassing and she's still finding glitter in strange places. "If you'd have known about it, we would not be talking right now," she tells him.

"Oh, I know. I'd be expecting an asskicking right now," he tilted his head. "You know, if you're in the mood for a spar I'm always around. I'm thinking you got lucky last time."

Aeryn shakes her head, and she wants to go back to the gym right now and kill the punching bag with no one else around to witness it. "Yes, of course I did."

"As long as you know it," Cameron nods. "We could start a betting pool."

"Yes, because that's what I'm concerned about right now," she bites out, and she's irritated about a lot right now. That should be very, very visible.

"I know," Cameron says softly and rubs his forehead. "I'm sorry. I say stupid stuff when I don't know how to fix things. Just... anything you guys need and I'll get it. I'll even keep my mouth shut too."

"Good," she says, and she means it. "He doesn't want people to know, and if people start finding out, it means I told them and I'm the only one he's frelling talking to. None of this leaves this room."

Cameron has to bite his tongue, but his reply is still short. "You know me better than that."
