Room 209, Tuesday night

Aeryn's ignoring the last time I put myself out there like this I got sent away thoughts. She does give herself credit for recognizing the problem, though.

While she's ignoring it, she's actually putting up some of the things in her room. She's starting small, sort of. Anakin's picture has been joined by Isabel's and the two from John. She probably looks like a science nerd, and thanks so much to Peter for that new piece of vocabulary.

And yes, she does realize the oddness of putting up all the things to make her think of home while wearing the ring John gave her. Shut up. Right now she's focusing on the fact that her room looks weird with things in it.

Rory, being bored and in possession of a restless puppy, had decided to go for a walk with said puppy.

And, remembering that yesterday was Aeryn's actual birthday, she decided to stop by and say hi.

Of course, it wasn't until after she knocked that she remembered that Aeryn may want to killinate her for her gifties yesterday. Oops.

Aeryn opens the door, and does not killinate Rory. Instead, she says, "Hi," and opens the door wider in case she wants to come in.

"Hi!" Rory said brightly, taking the invitation and stepping more fully in.

Vladdie attempted to lick Aeryn's chin.

"Did you have a nice birthday?" Rory asked.

And... that's a dog tongue. "Thank you," she tells Vladdie, because that seems to be her standard response to being licked by puppies.

"It went surprisingly well," she says. "Even if it did mean being social."

"You know, you and Anakin are kind of similar," Rory noted, reining Vladdie in a little. "He said almost the same thing. Did you get any good presents?"

She waves at the new wall of stuff. "For starters," she says. Then adds, "Ignore the monkeys on the bed."

"But they're so cute!" Rory said immediately. "Not a fan of monkeys?"

"Monkeys are fine, I'm just not... a monkey type of person," she says, and that sounds really weird. "Temporary marmosets excluded."

"But they're whimsical," Rory argued feebly, trailing off as she noticed what was on Aeryn's finger. "Nice ring."

She's actually managed to forget about it for a second. "Thanks," she says, and then adds, "I didn't get married or anything."

"Good to know. It does kind of look like a wedding band," Rory said.

"I know," she says. "It's not though. It's just... A ring." That John has, too. Yeah.

"Well, it's a nice ring. Simple. Very...you-ish," Rory said, nodding. "You don't seem like the type for diamonds or anything."

"Not especially," Aeryn admits, and actually says, "I can't believe I'm actually having a conversation like this."

"Like what?" Rory asked, tilting her head.

"Rings and diamonds."

Rory shrugged. "It's not a big deal unless you make it one, you know? I had a boyfriend who gave me a bracelet to wear all the time. This is kind of the same, I would guess."

"It's a big deal," Aeryn says, but any further on that subject scares her. "So. Pink."

"You look nice in pink," Rory said immediately.

"Pink things hug and turn people into... what was Walter, anyway?"

"A pony," Rory said, smiling.

Aeryn shakes her head. "I'm going to repress the entire first part of that day," she decides. "I'm good at that."

"Hey, I was wearing chain mail," Rory said seriously. "And I've never needed to know the answer to that riddle before. Weirdest detention ever."

"They tried to put me in a leather bikini," she reminds Rory. "And if you didn't know it, we'd probably still be there."

"But at least your clothes weren't heavier than you," Rory argued. "And you know, the riddle was written without an answer. So he was probably expecting us to stay forever."
