Room 209, Saturday evening

Aeryn almost automatically goes to 238 instead of her own room. She could, but that just feels a little weird right now, so after that little pause at the door, she continues on like she never thought of it.

She spent most of her morning in the gym, meeting some of the new people. She's not sure about Buffy, though that might be due to either the name association or the fact that she asked Aeryn about cheerleading tryouts, but Dean seems all right. And while she's pretty used to English Peter now, it's still good to see someone familiar.

She's done being social for now. She closes the door so she can call Callisto. And debate something like a dartboard, because she still kind of randomly wants to hit things.

After last night, John's a little concerned about Aeryn. So, he knocks on the door lightly.

"Aeryn?"

"It's open," she calls, still pulling her boots off.

He comes inside and shuts the door quietly behind him. "Hi. You okay?"

She nods. "Fine. You?"

"Doing okay," he says, shucking off his own shoes. "Last night. You're all right?"

"Mm hm," she answers. "You?"

"I'm fine." He pulls out her desk chair and takes a seat. "What's going on, Aeryn?"

"Nothing's going on," Aeryn answers. Yes, she's aware she's actually going to have to give an answer.

"Aeryn," he sighs. "You said something last night and either you regret saying it or you don't think I can follow through with what you said."

She knows exactly what he's talking about. It's the last part that makes her frown, though the second part is true. "What?"

"You think I'm going to leave without you."

"No," she says. "I don't."

"Then, what's going on?"

"Angel left, I was upset. There."

"So, you're not going to tell me." He sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "All right."

"What do you think there is to tell?' she wonders. "I can't be upset and just be upset?"

"Aeryn, you said something very important last night and now you're trying to pretend it didn't happen. Do you want me to forget you said that?"

"Yes," she says. "It doesn't matter anyway. I know you wouldn't. Or won't. Whatever."

"Fine," he nods. And falls silent.

"Are you really okay?" she asks.

He nods slowly. "I was worried about you. That's all. You've told me to forget it, I will."

"Good," she says, and takes a seat on the bed, her back to the wall.

Not that he's happy about being told to forget something like that.

"Right." He rubs a hand over his face to stave off the approaching headache. "Should I leave?"

"Why is it that every time I don't want to talk about something, you ask if you should leave?" she wonders. "Have I ever answered yes to that question?"

"Because I don't want you to be uncomfortable and knowing that I do want to talk can't be that comfortable," he explains. "No, you haven't but this is like a monkey in the room. You don't want me to leave without you, you don't think I will but now what? I forget that you asked?"
