Room 209, Thursday evening

Aeryn doesn't think much about shopping unless she needs it. Thanks to Wilderness Survival, she needed shoes. Now she has them. One day you're refusing to kill a girl (no matter how dumb they were), the next you're kind of temped to go through with it if it'll keep you from hearing the word 'cheerleading' ever again.

After last week's mummies and kittens and Rory not being crazy, along with her own issues, it's nice to have a smaller drama that really isn't a drama. Especially since the alternative is thinking way too hard on a certain conversation she doesn't remember. Even if things have been going scarily well lately. Even when she's having trouble, they're going well.

She'll stick to fighting cheerleading, and buying things to replace the things she's going to have to give up.

After getting a voicemail, Peter decided to stop by Aeryn's room. He knocked on the door.

Aeryn leaves the bags on her bed, even when she closes the closet door with the actual purchases inside. She opens the front door, greeting him with, "Hi."

"Hey. I got your voicemail," Peter said. "I just wanted to stop by and let you know that I'm doing okay."

As proof of this, he held up his slingless-but-casted left arm.

"Is that better?" she asks, because she hasn't had a chance to see him until now.

"A little, I think. I still need to wear the cast for about three weeks or so," Peter said. "Fun stuff, really."

"You did well out there," she says. "Even with an injury."

"I didn't do anything after the injury," Peter said. "And I'm glad I didn't have to. You guys did well."

Because she's curious, she asks, "You really don't stop talking, even when fighting, do you?"

"I do sometimes. Not often," Peter said. "It's a nervous habit. When I'm worried, I talk a lot. It helps me concentrate. And, really, I'm never more worried than when somebody is trying to kill me."

"I don't think I've ever heard someone admit that before," says Aeryn, who really has kind of hung with a limited type of crowd.

"Also, it tends to irritate people I'm fighting," Peter said. "If they get mad enough, they make mistakes. It works two ways."

"Not a bad tactic, actually," she agrees. "As long as it doesn't distract you, too."

"It's second nature to me. It just flies out without me even thinking about it. A lot like my fighting style, actually," Peter said.

Isabel is bored. And she figures she owes Aeryn a visit at this point. So she wandered down to the second floor and knocked on the door.

Aeryn opens the door, greeting her with a "Hi," and opening the door wider to let her in.

"Hi!" Isabel said as she came into the room. "I was...wandering, I figured I'd stop by. Say hi. What's up?"

"Thanks to Callisto I had to buy shoes," she says. "You?"

"I've been practicing cheerleading, had a date, slept in today," she said. "After last week? It's nice to relax a bit."

Aeryn nods. "I'm just relieved to be rid of the kittens. Good date?" she asks. She has no idea why she keeps asking things like that.

"Very good date," Isabel replied, smiling brightly. "The kittens might be gone but now I have to worry about a fox. Jack Harkness got changed into one and Cedric and I have been taking care of him."

She blinks, frowning a little at that. "Well, that's one way to guarantee he doesn't get shot for another week..."

"Shot? He's been shot before?" Isabel asked, her eyes wide. "Why?"

"Vala told me to," she shrugs. "It was a very long time ago, and it didn't do any real damage. He seems all right with it. Not getting shot is a new hobby of his."

"I think I'll have to actively encourage him in this new hobby then. I don't like my friends getting hurt," Isabel said. "Speaking of getting hurt, did you make it through Saturday night okay?"

"Fine," she says. "Peter and Buffy took the worst of it. How did it go on your side? I haven't actually heard."
