Room 238, Thursday after class

Aeryn's already had a busy day, between class and phone calls, and now she needs to go back to 238. Reason number one being that she needs to check up on her klutz of a boyfriend. Reason number two being she needs to change clothes, because her underwear is still soaked from class. Not dirty.

John goes to answer but ends up cracking up instead.

Aeryn totally rises up on her knees to look at the bottom of his foot.

John notices and ends up laughing harder.

"Your species is stranger than I thought, I don't trust your foot," she says, though she's pretty sure he really is joking about the verbal agreement thing now. It's been a long week.

"I'm okay," he says again. "I'll be better as the day goes on and the swelling goes down. It doesn't look nearly as ugly as it did yesterday, right?"

"No, it doesn't. But bruising can sometimes take a while to show up." Yes, she's being stubborn.

"You know, you didn't go to the clinic earlier this week," John points out. Ha.

"First, I wasn't about to go outside again the way I was. Second, I was better by the time I got back here. Third, I doubt anyone there would have known what to do for it," she says. "Tell you what, when you go, I'll go along and warn the clinic about my problem."

"Why does everyone try pouting at me?" she wonders.

"Because sometimes I get kisses after pouting!"

"Sometimes," she reminds him. "But now you're being stubborn."

"If it's still bad tomorrow, I'll go," he says. "Today, I can just rest."

"Fine. Then maybe you'll get the sponge bath and kisses tomorrow," she says, taking a seat on the bed again.

"You're holding affection over my head because I wanna rest today?" John scowls at her. "Mean."

"Concerned," she counters.

"Evil," he retorts.

She sighs, and leans in to kiss him lightly. "Better?"

"Yep." He smiles brightly at her. "I'll go tomorrow, I promise."

"Good," she says, knowing that's the best she can do for now. At least without dragging him there after knocking him unconscious. She'd like to avoid that. "Think your foot will agree to stay attached that long?"

"I think it's a safe bet it'll be okay for today," he says and wiggles his toes at her.

"Good," she says. "I hope you didn't have any plans for today."

"I thought I'd go jogging."

"You're on your own there," she replies.

"I'm kidding, honey." He grins at her. "I might hope on over to the couch and watch television."
