Room 238, Saturday afternoon

There doesn't seem to be anything going on today, Aeryn doesn't actually feel like going to the gym today (yes, it does happen) and she's still not chancing the weather yet, though rain was encouraging. So this is Aeryn bored, and discovering there's nothing on TV on Saturday afternoons.

John's using the stupid crutches but sparingly. Stupid crutches. Currently, he and the stupid crutches are fighting each other in the kitchen.

John gets annoyed finally and throws them onto the ground. "I hate those things!"

"You're still using them," she tells him. Because she got an agreement out of him, ha.

"I don't think that agreement should be valid," John gripes. "I was naked!"

"So was I. It still counts," she says, glaring at the remote like it's doing something wrong. "The more you use them, the faster you'll get used to it."

"I think I can walk on it now," he says and it's kind of a lie because he's kind of not sure.

She gives up on the TV, turning it off. Fighting with John is actually more entertaining. "Why are you being so stubborn about this?"

"Because they're annoying," he grouses. "And they hurt my arms."

"The alternative hurts your foot," she counters.

"I can hop," he says and he's well aware they'd had this conversation the other day.

"Yes, of course you can," she says soothingly.

"Those things are annoying wooden legs," he grumbles and starts hopping towards the couch. "See!"

"Hop around for an arn, I'm sure it'll be as effective as walking."

"I think I might be able to walk on it soon," he says, ignoring her statement. "It's feeling better."

"Good. How's the swelling?" she asks, looking at his foot.

"Looks better," he says, unwrapping the ace bandage from his ankle. "Not too bad at all."

"Still icing it?" she asks, leaning over to study it.

"Yeah," he says and rests his foot on the floor. "I don't think I'll even need those crutches anymore."

"Yes, because an entire day with them means you're healed," Aeryn says smoothly. "And I'm sure acting prematurely won't cause any more damage."

"When did you become a doctor?" John asks just as casually.

"I didn't, but I do know how to take care of lesser injuries in case they, you know, happen to me," she explains. "I have had basic first aid training."

"My ankle feels better," he repeats. "I'm okay, honey."

"You still ask me if my back's all right, and that was bruises," she reminds him. "I'm allowed to be concerned over an actual injury."

"I know and you can keep asking about this," he says. "But I'm okay. Didn't I prove that yesterday?"

"Of course, I did all the work," she teases.
