Room 238, Saturday afternoon

Aeryn is taking petsitting seriously. Vladdie's bottles are in the fridge, the curtains are closed, Yoda is far away from the sea monkeys because although she doubts there would be a problem unless she put Yoda in the tank, she'd rather not take any chances, and she's not running from the room at all. So far it's not going badly.

And she keeps looking at the ceiling to make sure Vladdie's not up there.

There's more pounding, louder this time.

"You can't do that," Aeryn argues, not thinking about the fact that she's challenging a toaster.

Vladdie floats over to investigate, and barks curiously.

"You're challenging the toaster," John helpfully points out.

"I'm aware," says Aeryn, who is now. "It needs to be put in its place."

Bertram, amused by the commotion, takes a picture of Vladdie in the air. And then he skitters over and takes a picture of Aeryn...who might have her mouth open at the time.

Aeryn glares at Bertram.

Vladdie meanwhile doesn't seem to know what to do, because there's something new in the freezer, but the DRD takes pictures. So he kind of flies up and back between the two.

John encourages Bertram by sitting up and putting bunny ears on Aeryn. Bertram snaps that picture too.

Aeryn smacks John's hand. "I don't know what you just did, but don't."

"I didn't do anything!" Of course, he does it again. And Bertram takes another picture.

"Stop it," Aeryn tells him seriously.

Vladdie barks one more time at the freezer before abandoning it for what seems to be a much cooler friend, settling on the arm of the sofa to bark at Bertram.

John barks at Vladdie.

"What was that for?" asks Aeryn.

Vladdie barks back, looking back and forth between John and Betram and occasionally turning to the freezer.

"I'm playing with him," John says and barks at Vladdie again. And makes weird faces.

Vladdie settles in John's lap, barking back at him.

Aeryn looks back at the turtle, who is still a turtle.

John yips at Vladdie and pets him gently.

"See, he remembers me. We've bonded after all."

Vladdie barks again, and lays down in his lap.

"Yes, that's right, you know his kind," Aeryn remembers.

"Yep," John says and pets Vladdie some more, quieting him down. Bertram skitters to a stop under Aeryn's feet. "See, petsitting's easy."

"It could be worse," she admits, reaching over to scratch Vladdie behind the ears because Sean used to like that.

"And I got pictures of this deal," John says and smiles. "Good Bertram!"

"No! Don't encourage that!" she says quickly.

"Too late," John says because Bertram is already taking more pictures of Aeryn.

"I am not your enemy," she tells Bertram. "That would be the toaster."

Being careful not to jostle Vladdie, John makes a motion to Bertram before leaning over and planting a kiss on Aeryn's cheek.

Bertram takes a picture!

Aeryn sighs, and Vladdie stands up again, barking at Bertram.

John laughs and picks up Vladdie in order to set him on Aeryn's lap.
