Room 238, Thursday morning

The summer's almost over and Aeryn still hasn't learned about that thing called 'laziness'. It's not too early, but Aeryn's up already and just laying there isn't doing anything for her. Not wanting to wake John, she sits up and starts to get out of bed.

"It's early and I was still half asleep." He scowls and finally just sits up.

"My point exactly," says Aeryn, not moving.

John has no idea what the issue here is. He' done this before and suddenly it's a problem.

He rubs his face and blinks, still waking up. Reaching behind him, he grabs the plate and goes to dump it in the trash.

Believe it or not, Aeryn feels more normal now. "You all right?" she asks, propping herself up on her elbows.

"Sure," he says and shrugs.

"Are you angry?"

"No," he says and finishes up in the kitchen before coming back.

She's not sure she believes it, and answers with, "Hm."

"What?" John asks, coming back to sit on the bed.

She shakes her head. "Nothing. You're just quiet."

"What's wrong with snuggling?"

"I just wanted you to be awake for it."

"I was awake," he argues. "I wasn't going back to sleep. I was just sleepy."

She sighs. "Okay."

"You told me to stop being cute," he says and tries to look hurt. Or something.

"And you had no reaction to me thinking you were," Aeryn says, and she might be a little disappointed in that.

"You told me to stop! I wasn't going to push you," he says.

"I was expecting you to!"

He throws his hands up and shakes his head. "You confuse me," he says and flops down beside her.

"Welcome to my world," Aeryn says back.

"Stop keeping track of when you were last annoyed."

"I can't," she says. "I'm not used to not being annoyed. It's very disconcerting."

"It's not a bad thing to be happy."

"It's a good thing," he says and snuggles up again.
