Imperial Junkyard, Saturday late afternoon

It's just learning the controls. That's it. Nothing to be nervous about. Even if it is John in the Prowler for different reasons than the last time.

She leads the way past the troopers, and up to the Prowler. "All right, inside," she says.

[That they're here is okay for broadcast. The rest, nuh uh.]

"First seat or second seat?" John asks before climbing up.

Aeryn pauses for a moment. "Second," she answers. "I'll show you first."

"Okay," he says and scrambles up the ladder and flops heavily into the seconds eat. "Ready!"

Aeryn climbs up after him, sitting in the first seat, and closes the canopy. "Now you're sure you want to do this?" she asks.

"Roger that, Major Tom!"

Aeryn turns around in her seat to Look at him.

He looks back at her. "What?"

"A simple yes or no would suffice."

"I was using fighter pilot speak!" He grumbles at her. "Yes."

Sometimes Aeryn appreciates comm silence. She turns back around, gesturing with her hand. "This is how you begin the startup sequence," she says, and continues to rattle off a list of directions and controls to hit.

John watches and boggles at how quickly she does this kind of thing. Also, her hands are really sexy.

"Are you getting all this?" she asks.

"Uh huh," he says and nods. "Yep. No problem."

"Good," she says, and proceeds to launch into what she'd consider a fairly simple explanation of liftoff procedure. Maybe if she'd use smaller words.

He's totally not getting all this. Her hair smells nice though.

Aeryn doesn't even notice, now somewhere in the vacinity of explaining how to deal with atmospheric pressure once you're in the air and heading into space, finishing with "But you don't need to know that part yet."

"Uh huh," he says and sniffs her hair again. Really nice. "Liftoff, yep."

Aeryn frowns. "Are you even listening?"

"Yes!" He nods and stares at the controls. "I've been listening the whole time!"

"Repeat any part of what I just said back to me."

"Okay." He racks his brain. "Are you even listening?"

"Before that!"

"Oh." He racks his brain again and does manage to repeat some of what she said.

"Okay," she says. "Do you feel confident in that, or should I repeat it?" It's not like they're going anywhere today. She's just being overprotective and not really trusting human intelligence.
