Room 238, Saturday afternoon

It's been a while since Aeryn's had nothing to do. The pets are fed, the place is actually clean, she has no homework to do... At the moment she's lounging on the couch, wondering why it's so quiet and whether or not the toaster has gotten out.

"Are you bored?" John asks, coming out of the kitchen with a drink in his hand.

"Completely," she answers immediately. "It's too quiet. Fix it."

"Uh..." He stops part way to the couch and blinks. "How?"

"I don't know. Noise, talking, something," she answers. "No toaster."

"I'm talking to you right now," he points out.

"Yes, and it's helping," she says. "Tell me about your walk last night."

"Uh..." He blinks again. "It was a walk. The weather was nice. It was quiet. I had time to think."

Aeryn pauses. "Uh oh."

"Uh oh what?" John says, taking a seat next to her.

"You have a lot of time to think about things," she says. "It's a worrisome sentence."

"Are you expecting me to think of something bad?"

"I'm not expecting anything, I'm just a bit cautious," says Aeryn. It would be so much easier if she was capable of the sentence What did you think about?

"Why're you cautious?"

"Because it's you," she says, sitting with her back against the arm of the sofa so she can lay her legs in his lap.

"I make you cautious?" he asks while rubbing her ankles.

"When you start thinking and I'm aware of it? Yes," she admits.

"I couldn't have just been thinking of being happy?"

"Were you?"

"Nope..." He pinches her toes playfully.

Her foot twitches a little at that, and see, this is why she's cautious. "No?"

"Nope," he says and tickles her feet.

Her feet aren't really ticklish, but she twitches again and bends her knees, flattening her feet against his thigh. "So are you planning on enlightening me anytime soon?"

He laughs and scratches the tops of her feet. "You wanna know?"

She shrugs one shoulder. "Yes."

"Okay." He grins at her. "Was thinking about you."
