Room 238, Saturday night

Aeryn comes back from the common room, and she's not emo. Putting that out there now. She's just had two conversations that made her start thinking about things like family, and on top of recent conversations, it's just made her go quiet. See, there's a difference.

John's already back in the room, sitting on the couch and flipping through the channels. When Aeryn comes back, he waves at her.

"Hey there, good looking."

"Hey," she says, closing the door behind her and coming to sit by him.

"What's happening?" he asks and smiles at her.

"Nothing," she says. "You?"

"Nothing," he says and looks over at her. "You okay?"

"Fine," she says, taking off her shoes before pulling her feet up onto the couch and leaning against him.

Yeah, she was lying. He moves a little so she can lean against him more comfortably and slides an arm around her. "Really?"

"Really," she says, and does mean it. "You don't believe me?"

"Uh, no." He frowns. "I believe you. I was just asking."

She nods again, turning her attention to the TV. "Nothing interesting?"

"Not really," he says, growing a little concerned. "Never is on a Saturday night."

"There was some lion thing on in the common room. I don't know if it's still on, though." And she rests her head on his shoulder.

"Lion thing?" He brings his hand up and starts running his fingers through her hair.

"Some show on lions that are like kittens but can eat your head," she says, using Dawn's words.

John boggles. "Yeah, let's avoid that," he says and turns off the tv. "I like you better anyway."

"I'm very glad to hear that," she says, but hasn't changed position at all.

"You're quiet," he observes.

"Yes, I am," she agrees.

He leans over and kisses her forehead. "Okay."

She smiles a little, and curls in closer, running her hand idly over his arm.

"Your hair's getting long," he says quietly.

"Good thing?" she asks.

"Yeah," he says and kisses her hair. "I like your hair long. I love your hair long."

"What would you say if I cut it?" she wonders.

"You'd still be sexy as hell," he says. "But I like it long."
