Room 238, Monday evening

After seeing Anakin at the Perk- not just the guy in the suit she's known to be him, but Anakin, with new scars and a different look and in fact a whole new body- Aeryn's been trying to keep to herself a little, staying out so she can just think. She does have to go back to the room eventually, though, even if she's not sure what her thoughts are yet.

She opens the door and closes it behind her quietly, taking off her shoes and coat there, and hoping she doesn't look as confused and/or slightly freaked out as she feels.

John's on the couch, watching something boring on television. He looks over at her when she comes in. "Hey."

"Hi," she says, kind of managing a real smile. Because she is totally fine.

"That looked painful," John says. "You okay?"

"Fine," she says. She's getting there. "What looked painful?"

"Your smile," he says. "Like it was forced."

"Strange few days," she says, shaking her head and leaving across the back of the couch on her elbows.

"Yeah?" He looks over at her. "Why was it strange?"

She's quiet for a moment, just because she's gotten so used to not saying the name to anyone but three people, and it's taking a second to tell herself it's okay to say it. "Um. Anakin's back. I saw him this morning."

"I know," John says, smiling. "I saw him too."

"Oh," she says. "So you got to talk to him?"

It's really kind of weird being able to talk about someone like she hasn't been talking to him for months already.

"Yep!" He smiles again. "Well, I kind of bounced around and talked fast and told him I was happy to see him again."

She does manage a little smile in return. "He must have been glad to see you."

"He was," John says. "It was good to see him. I mean, I thought he was dead and he told me it was a long story and we said we'd talk again soon because I didn't want to overwhelm him."

"Yeah," she says, nodding. "He probably needs time to adjust."

"You guys talked then?"

Still nodding. "For a little while, yes."

"How'd it go?" John asks. "Good to see him again?"

"Definitely," she says honestly. "Just... strange."

"Why?"

"He's supposedly been dead since August," Aeryn explains. Again, not a lie. Even the supposed part is correct.

"Yeah, but stranger things have happened," John points out.

She screws up her face a little and says, "You know, I'm not so sure about that."

He frowns. "This is the strangest thing to ever happen?"

"How many people do you know die and then turn out not to be?" she asks.

She realizes she could probably count herself- not personally- in that category, but isn't going to say it.

"This is Fandom," John says. "There are trolls. I can accept this because he's back!"
