Hotel room- Nags Head, NC- Thursday morning

Aeryn's still not entirely used to the idea of a vacation. Even when they went to LA, there were things to see and people to socialize with, so this whole thing where she can just stay in bed a little longer in a room that probably doesn't need to be quite this air conditioned- like so- is kind of neat.

And the bonus is that she's not even thinking of where they're heading after this at the moment. Maybe John has good ideas every now and then.

John's mostly awake, enjoying the quiet and the view from the window across the room. This was nice.

Aeryn opens her eyes, noticing him and greeting him with a quiet, "Hi."

"Hi," he says back, smiling over at her. "Sleep okay?"

"Mm hm," she says, and it's cool enough in the room that she's entirely okay under way too many blankets. "Comfortable. You?"

"Slept fine," he says, turning back to the window. "Better than fine."

Following his gaze, she asks, "Enjoying the sights?"

"It's a nice view," he says, smiling. "I almost just want to stay here."

"Might make your commute to school difficult," she says with a tiny smile back.

He makes a face and says, "I'll make them bring the school to me. I'm that special."

"The other students might hold a grudge," she says, and kisses his shoulder.

"They'd get over it," he says and grins down at her. "Eventually."

"I was expecting you to say that they wouldn't mind because it's all for you."

"Well," he says and laughs, "I'm a nice guy in the morning. Who knew?"

"What about the rest of the day?" she asks, turning towards him a little more.

"Depends on how good my morning is," he says, smiling again.

"Well," Aeryn says slowly, "what would make a morning good?"

"Oh, you know," he says and waggles his eyebrows at her. "Pancakes."

Aeryn frowns, but nods. "Pancakes?"

"Breakfast," he says. "Pancakes."

"Room service."

She laughs and asks, "So it's my job to call them because you want food? Your fingers work."
