The Apartment- Cambridge, MA- Tuesday early evening

Most of the day's been spent unpacking, which shouldn't have taken long because all things considered, John and Aeryn don't have a ton of stuff between them. However there are still boxes, and things piled around the living room, and Aeryn kind of doesn't understand how even she's managed not to put things where they're supposed to go right away. This is because she's never had to do this before. It's different when you're moving with more than just one bag of your own.

Finally taking a seat on the couch, mercilessly liberated as it was, she says, "This looks more cluttered than I imagined."

"Bed and couch," he says. "A place to eat, sleep, and lounge!"

She raises her eyebrows. "Lounge?" she says, amused.

"Relax," he clarifies. "For like reading or watching tv."

"I know what it means, I'm just kind of amazed at the word applying to me," she says and wonders where to put the fish food.

He throws a random pillow at her this time.

She almost doesn't catch it. "That wasn't very nice," she says, fluffing it and putting it behind her to lean on it.

"I'm not good at nice," he teases.

"Why does that sound like my line?" she teases back.

"Probably because I stole it." He kicks an empty box away and opens another one.

She watches him for a moment, and says, "I'm surprised you haven't said we'd finish tomorrow yet."

"I'm pretty close," he says and pulls out an assortment of odds and ends from the room. "I'm getting tired."

"Then stop," she tells him. "I think most of the important stuff has been unpacked already."

"Don't have to tell me twice," he says, dropping some books and coming to flop next to her.

"A lot of work today," she says, smiling over at him.

"And still more to go," he says, kicking his feet up on a box.

"When I pictured our first night here, it was much more bare," Aeryn says, finally giving up and setting the fish food on the box next to John's feet.

"What, like us, a floor, a blanket and some pizza?"

"The couch was there."

"And were we on the couch?"

[can_be_more]

"Funny you should ask. We were," she says.

"How surprising," he says, eyes wide. "Us and the couch."

"I know, it's completely unexpected," Aeryn says, playing along.

"I mean, we've never done anything on a couch," he says. "So weird to think of us like that."

"I can't seem to remember what we were doing, though."

"Obviously, your dreams aren't vivid enough," he tells her.
