Rehearsal dinner- Restaurant in Cambridge- Friday night

Friday was busier than Aeryn had anticipated somehow, with people coming in from out of town, followed by the rehearsal at the hotel where the ceremony and reception would take place. And personally, she had no idea how anyone remembered how all of this sort of thing went, and she thought it was kind of stupid how much emphasis was put on something as simple as walking, but she'd go with it, as apparently these things were important. Or something.

Afterwards, the group made their way to a pizza place nearby to settle in and settle down and have one good night out before tomorrow got more stressful.


[Up early for SP. For bridal party, dates, and other guests to the Friday thingie yay!
ETA: For clarification, cuz a couple people have asked. If you were told you were welcome to the dinner, you were invited. Otherwise the wedding stuff takes place tomorrow.]

Molly jumped in, wanting to stop another person from thinking she didn't know what she was doing. "They can, but Karal's duty comes first."

"Molly is correct." He reached for Molly's hand. "Sun-Priests are expected to be neither celibate nor chaste," he explained, then, realising exactly what he'd said and to who, he went bright red, right down to his toes. "Not that that is an issue! It's just the way the rule is phrased!"

A flash of disappointment washed over Molly, but she didn't react outwardly.

Anakin gave Molly a sharp look--he was perfectly happy never, ever thinking about That in context that came near her--before turning that same penetrating gaze on Karal. "Indeed."

Karal shrank in on himself a little under that look, and nodded quickly, wishing that the floor might open up and swallow him. "I have nothing but the greatest respect for Molly. I would never to do anything which would harm her or her reputation." Hey, he came from a society where that mattered. "That was one time when thinking before I spoke would have been a very good idea."

Molly sighed and rolled her eyes. "New topic now please."

"Do you find your previous life to be very much at odds with life in Fandom?" he asked.

This suddenly felt like an interrogation, but Karal knew he'd brought it on himself. "It's very different in Fandom. Life at the Temple was structured, with nearly every minute filled. I'm not used to having so much of my time free."

"I'm sure you've found productive, academic ways to spend it," Anakin said.

There was an unspoken "or you should" in that sentence.

And all of a sudden he was on safer territory. "Yes!" he said, sounding excited. "There is so much to learn here, so much knowledge I never dreamed existed. I was even given a job in the library!"

Anakin smiled despite himself. "You should meet Rory," he said. "She's that excited about libraries too."

He perked up even more. "I'd very much like to meet her, if she's not too busy with the wedding."

Anakin looked over at Rory, assessing her mood with the ease of long experience.

"It should be fine," he said with a smile. "Go right ahead."

He nodded his head more formally. "I'll see you both tomorrow," he said and swept away.

Karal blinked, watching him go. "I never, ever, ever want Professor Skywalker to be angry with me."

Molly grimaced. "He can be kind of intimidating. Sorry about that."

"No need." He squeezed her hand. "Considering the way I put my foot in my mouth, he was actually quite nice."

Molly grinned. "I'm just wondering if it would have been better or worse if I'd remembered to introduce you sooner."

"Oh, glory!" Karal rubbed his forehead. "Why did I say that?"

"Because you were being honest," Molly said matter-of-factly.

"Which might not be so wise as I've always thought." He shook it off, smiling at her. "Shall we find something to eat?"
