Rooms 238 and 239/240, Wednesday afternoon

Aeryn has had better days. She's leaving, like it or not. And while she avoided it last night... It would be safe to say John didn't take it so well. Her last class also managed to kill her just a little bit. And now it's time for the other stuff.

She's spent at least a couple months now living in two rooms without living in either of them, and that makes it difficult to do things like pack. Especially when she's collected a lot of things and can't bring most of them with her.

And what she can't bring, she'll move into 238. She'll get the locker John got her into the room, stuff her things into there. He can do whatever he wants with it. Keep it, burn it, forget about it... It's not really hers anymore anyway.

Throughout the afternoon she can be seen going back and forth between the two rooms, so the doors are open.

"Would you?" Cameron asks, frowning. "Would you change it if you could?"

There's a long pause, and a very honest, "I don't know."

"And they're not big on choice," he sounds tired and resigned as he pulls away and sits down on the edge of the bed.

"No," she says, and adds quietly, "If you have time you might want to try explaining that to John."

"You assume I understand it in the first place," Cameron says and there's definitely an edge to his words.

"What's to understand?" she asks. "I unthinkingly do what they tell me to do, right? Go where they tell me to go, kill who they tell me to kill, and that's my life."

"Because you let them make it your life," he snaps and glares down at the carpet.

Aeryn's tired and doesn't know how many times she's going to have this conversation, so she says, "If our positions were reversed, what would you do?"

He leans his head in his hands and closes his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath. "I'd go," he says tiredly and he wants to add that his military isn't the Peacekeepers, but there doesn't seem to be a point. "And there's nothing for me to say to change your mind?" It's more a statement, then a question.

"There's no choice here," Aeryn sighs. "I can't not go. My mind is not made up either way. There's nothing to be decided."

"Damnit, Aeryn." Cameron growls and gets up again. "There's always a choice. You can stay here. We've got a whole fucking army stationed on the island if they try anything!"

"I'm not worth all that," she says, a little surprised. "The technology here can't go up against what the Peacekeepers have. There wouldn't even be a fight. And when it failed, it would only get me into more trouble."

"Yes, you are." Cameron says softly and sighs. "What do you mean, more trouble? Are you in trouble?"

Which brings them back to square one and he doesn't want this to end in a fight if she does have to leave. "Do you get vacations?"

Aeryn shakes her head. "No, this is it."

He swallows hard and blinks a few times as he nods slowly. "I don't suppose visitors are allowed either. I'd love to see one of the prowlers," he manages a small smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

"Maybe you'll have something like it here someday," she says with a smiliar smile. Not mentioning so much the part about the visitors.

"Would it get you to come back?" He asks and to hell with Janet and Sam wanting him to keep this quiet. "Because I think we will. I've seen it."

She wonders if she should just give him an answer that would make him happy, but she wouldn't talk down to him like that. "Somehow I doubt I'd be allowed," she says, but she's smiling a little.

Aeryn just blinks hard a lot and nods, but there's nothing she can say to that and she doesn't trust herself to say it without a small breakdown, anyway.

And maybe she won't do it, but he's not just going to stand there. She can kick his ass later if she wants to. Not giving her time to think, he moves forward and wraps his arms around her. "I will," he says softly.

Another nod, and she actually hugs him back for a moment. Only because it's Cameron.
