Room 209, Sunday morning

Aeryn did not sleep. Pretty much at all. One moment she was letting John go on about kids because it seemed to be keeping him calm, and the next they were finding out that in that other reality, he killed her.

John's reaction is what concerns her. They don't even know for a fact that there is anything in his head, but it doesn't seem to matter. In the early morning when he at least seems to be sleeping, Aeryn spends some time hiding anything potentially dangerous in the room. She's not worried about him trying to hurt her. Not that she's big on leaving him alone right now. Then she comes to bed, drapes an arm across John, and continues to not sleep.

John has been sleeping, not well, but he slept a little. When Aeryn climbs back onto the bed, he opens his eyes a little and looks at her.

"Hm." He'd meant to say hi but he's still sleepy and it didn't come out right.

"Hi," she tells him quietly, tightening her arm around him just a little.

"Hi." He squirms a bit, stretching and blinks to clear the sleep from his eyes.

She has to ask, even if she's a little worried about the answer. "How are you doing?"

He avoid that question completely. "Is it morning?"

"Yeah," she says. "But there's nothing stopping you from sleeping in if you want to."

"No," he says, shaking his head. "I got enough. Not tired anymore."

"Okay," she says, and wondering if he was having nightmares again. "What do you want to do?"

"You don't have to stay if have stuff to do," he says and rubs his eyes.

"I don't have to be anywhere," Aeryn assures him.

"Did you sleep at all?"

"A little," she says. "Wasn't very tired."

"Oh. Sorry." He squirms again, this time due to discomfort.

"Not your fault," she says, lightly rubbing her fingers over his side. And really, those words could apply to a lot. She means them any way.

"You shouldn't have to deal with this," he says after a pause. "I'm sorry."

"You shouldn't have to deal with it," Aeryn tells him. "But it's too late for that. We deal with it together."

"Hm." He rubs his face again and turns over onto his back, looking at the ceiling. "Aeryn, you want your key back?" he asks suddenly.

She pauses, completely thrown off guard by that. "What?"

He shrugs and continues looking at the ceiling.

"I still have it. And with me...the way I am, I thought it might be helpful."

Aeryn watches him closely. She knows this is probably a huge admission, and honestly, it would make her feel better not to have to have a locked door between them if something happens. "Okay," she nods.

"Okay."

Umberto chatters something in his ear, whispered and hissing and John grimaces.

"I'll get it for you sometime today when I get out of your bed."

"There's no rush there," she assures him. She props herself up on her elbow, lightly touching her hand to his temple.

He closes his eyes when she touches him, breathing softly. "I don't know what to do anymore."

"What do you want to do?" she asks.

He shrugs again. "Don't know. If...if there's something in there, they'd have to do surgery or something to take it out."
