Room 238, Tuesday after workshops

Aeryn's seen pictures of sharks before. Looking at the tank, and all the things in it, up to and including said shark is a little bit confusing.

"I think they lied to you at the store," Aeryn says.

"What's wrong with Bruno?" John asks, eyes concerned.

"He's a fish," she says, thinking that's pretty obvious.

"Shark's are fish," John points out.

"I've seen sharks. I saw it in a book and I saw something on the television the other week. This isn't a shark," she insists.

"Yes, it is," he argues. "It's not a big shark. It's just a bala shark. Tank shark."

"If I stuck Zack's hand in there, I don't think it would even eat it."

"...it doesn't people."

"See, sharks eat people."

"No, they don't. Not all sharks eat people."

Aeryn is strangely disappointed at that. "It's still a fish."

"Sharks are fish too," John says again.

"A shark with my last name should eat people," she mutters.

John laughs and taps the tank, watching Bruno swim around.

"He's cute though, isn't he?"

"Well, he's a fish. Aren't you not supposed to tap on the tanks? At the aquarium they told me not to," Aeryn says.

"I just wanted to get his attention," John says and stands up. "He's a good shark."

Aeryn wonders if she can train it to eat people.

Still bending to look at Bruno, she asks, "What's all this for? The things in the tank?"

"Toys," he tells her, cuddling up behind her just because he can. "Things he can play with."

She's more than okay with that. "But he has no arms."

"He has fins," he tells her. "And he can see them so he can swim around them and stuff."

"Oh," she says, but she still looks a little confused about it as she stands up straight. Still watching the fish-shark thing.

He goes with her, keeping his arms around her waist. "He's probably used to seeing things that are colorful and stuff. Makes it feel like home."

She places her hands over his, leaning into him a little. "It makes it feel like the store?"

"He wasn't born in the store," he says and kisses behind her ear. "But they have lots of stuff in their tanks too."

"Fish are hatched, not born," she corrects. "They aren't body-breeders."

"He still had a mommy fish," John says and makes a face at Bruno.
