Room 238, Sunday evening

Aeryn spent her afternoon training Peter, and when she gets back to the room, she's ready to go looking for something to eat.

She finds the package of Goldfish crackers, and remembering her conversation with Dawn, brings them over to the shark tank. She doesn't do anything, just moves it in front of the tank, wondering if Bruno would go for it. She's slightly disappointed when he doesn't seem to care.

"Because, if you fall, it won't hurt as bad," he says. "And these are tougher than the bike."

Aeryn frowns and asks, "What makes you think I would fall?"

He just smiles. "Put them on and try."

"Fine," she says, and sits down in order to take her shoes off and put the rollerblades on.

John holds his laughter and stands back. "When you're ready, you just get up and you use one foot to push off. Then's it a matter of gliding."

She points at the carpet again. "You can't glide on this," she insists. "You can trip on this."

"Glide, Aeryn."

She frowns at him. "One of these times I'm going to make you try it," she says. "You'll see how wrong you are." She stands up, testing her balance. She's doing pretty well so far.

He moves quickly and clears some furniture out of the way.

Careful of how she steps, Aeryn puts one foot forward, and then starts walking on them towards the kitchen, where there is linoleum and it is smooth. Once her foot tries to twist a little when she steps wrong, but she can manage it.

John follows her and tries not to laugh again.

"What?" Aeryn asks, making sure to hold onto the counter when she can't walk on them anymore.

"I didn't say anything," he says and stays on the carpet so he doesn't get under her feet.

Still holding onto the counter, Aeryn moves her feet back and forth. "It feels strange."

"I know," he says. "But you'll get used to it. Try letting go."

"When I'm ready," she says, because she's still getting used to how to work her legs in order to not make her ankles bend.

John nods and says, "When you're ready."

Aeryn finally gets go, using one hand on the counter to push off, and keeping her arm just above it, in case she falls, and uses it to stop herself. "Happy?"

He grins and says, "Yep. You can try more if you want."

"I can't do much indoors," she says, turning herself around to go the other way, still using her hand to stop.

"I know." He grins at her though. "You're doing good though!"

"It's just balance," she says, and turns around again. When she gets to the end of the counter, she says, "I think this really needs to wait until I have more room, though." Because now she has to turn around again.

"You're so hot."

[can_be_more]

"I'm sliding around a kitchen," she says, but when she gets to the end of the counter, she leans forward to undo the laces on the rollerblades.

"Here, I'll do that," he says and kneels down to undo the laces of the rollerblades.
