The gym, Thursday afternoon

Aeryn has been spending a lot of time at the gym this week, which isn't out of the ordinary, but she doesn't like the reasoning behind it. She doesn't want to be frustrated, but Crichton frelling brings it out of her. Yesterday resulted in bruised and scraped knuckles, so today she's wearing gloves as she beats on the punching bag.

He wants to help? Fine. Except he's not frelling helping.


(OOC: Feel free to antagonize/cheer her up. Either one might make her feel better and if she gets any more emo on me, I swear to god she's ending up strapped to something at the bottom of a large body of water.)

"It doesn't solve the things he expects it to solve, for one. Especially," she says, throwing another punch at the bag, "when he insists on making it all about him when that's not it at all."

"So what is it?" Sam sits down on one of the mats and begins to stretch.

"It's... stuff. It's stupid, and it's personal, and that's exactly why I didn't want to tell him. Only he got more and more upset about me not telling him, so I did tell him, and I thought that would make things better, but instead it made things worse because supposedly I don't trust him."

She pauses. "Forget I said any of that?"

"It's forgotten," Sam nods. "But if you ever need to...well, if you ever need...anything..." She trailed off, lamely.

"Thanks, Sam." She pauses. "You can always knock me unconscious and wake me up when I should be over him."

"I don't think I can punch that hard," she mutters under her breath. "Besides, should be over him never works."

Aeryn makes a face. "I didn't exactly want to hear that last part."

Aeryn hits the bag again, hard. "Say hello to my future," she mutters. Raising her voice, she asks, "Does it get easier?"

"Does what get easier? Dating?" She laughs, ruefully. "Depends on who you're dating, I guess. The easy ones always ended up being the ones I didn't miss when things were over. Maybe you're different."

"I wish I had better news for you. You could always try dating girls--they might be easier. I've never tried."

"Mm. Not my thing," Aeryn said. Though subtext is an entirely different story.

"Yeah, not really mine either," Sam mused. Isn't it always?

"I'm sure," Aeryn says slowly.

"I'll tell you the whole boring saga sometime over drinks, if you want, but not tonight." She sighs, "I'm trying to pull myself out of a funk, not dig myself deeper."
