Room 238, Thursday early afternoon

Aeryn's learned one really important lesson in the last year or so, namely that there is a big difference between random emo and dealing with the fallout of being under a lot of stress. And despite yesterday's talk, she's okay with taking some extra time to do her usual run around the preserve a second time. She'd had a lot of energy she just needed to burn off.

So she's in a better mood when she comes back to the room, though she's not sure how long that will last, if today's anything like yesterday.

"Maybe so but it's still her opinion to have."

"It is," he agrees. "I don't agree with her though."

There's the tiniest flash of a smile, and she says, "There won't be any convincing her of that, though. She comes back for me, if they haven't reassigned her, we go through that all over again."

"You won't be here for very much longer," he says.

"You think I only need to be here for her to find me?" She's really not happy having to say that.

"No, but she'll have to try harder to find you when we leave."

"If she's still assigned to finding me," she says. "The fact that she couldn't bring me back means she probably faced some sort of discipline from her superior officers, and given her past history... I'm not sure what they would have done."

He nods and looks down at the floor. "We'll be all right."

"Why didn't you ever ask me any of this before?" she asks.

"Everytime I tried, you didn't really wanna talk about it."

"I thought I was talking about it," she admits.

"A lot of this stuff I didn't know because I was afraid to push because that sometimes led to you leaving or shutting down."

"It took a while to be able to say everything," she admits. "I was still figuring things out."

He nods quietly. "Anything else you wanna ask me?"

"Is there anything you need to talk about?"

He frowns. "Like what?"

"I don't know, but while we're getting everything out there, is there anything else bothering you?" she asks. "Not just problems with me."

He thinks about it for a moment. "I want you to know that I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure you're happy and comfortable when we move. I know it's a big thing, a huge thing, but I want you to know that."

"I know," she says. "Do you really think it will be that difficult?"

"I don't know," he says. "We're young and just starting out. It'll be tough."

"We're good at dealing with tough," she points out.

"I know," he says, nodding in agreement. "And we'll have some fun too."

"You think?" she says, and this is the first time in the conversation she hasn't felt exhausted.

"Sure," John says. "It'll be our place, just us. And we can decorate it and we'll be adults and it'll be a new experience."

"What's the difference between that and what we do here?" she asks, curious.
