Room 238, Saturday evening

After spending time in the common room, mostly talking to and playing with weetiny teachers, Aeryn has decided she should probably just go back to the room. It's safer there.

She notices she left her phone on the table, so she picks it up and is surprised to see a message on there. She listens to it, and is left staring at it, both facepalming and repeating, "Ryn?"

"Oh." He smiles at that. "Well, they seemed very set on their job. Who am I to stop them?"

"Especially if they're persistent. They would have worn you down eventually," Aeryn says with a nod.

"I gave one of them a horsey ride," he says, shaking his head at himself.

"Well you do have enough practice being an animal," she points out.

"Ha ha," John says, grabbing some chips and coming back out. "I like kids."

"You seem to be good with them," she admits, taking a seat on the couch.

He smiles and takes a seat beside her. "So do you."

She makes a face, obviously doubting that. "I've never been around them."

"They liked you," John says. "Aly especially. She told me she braided your hair."

"Tangled it, more like," she corrects. "She came by to tell me that you're cute, by the way."

He actually blushes again. "It's really weird to know that your Revolutions teacher told you that and I gave her a horse back ride around the common room."

Aeryn laughs a little. "Our Home Ec teacher has a game called 'push over boys'," she says. "That's its actual name."

"Ah," he says, nodding. "Makes sense. She played it with me and they both think I have cooties."

"I'm sure there are innoculations for that," she says seriously.

"Well, if I have cooties, you do too," he says. "Because I've passed them on to you."

Aeryn shakes her head. "I'm pretty sure I'm biologically immune."

He laughs and leans over to kiss her cheek. "I like kids."

"You said that already," she says, smiling at him a little.

"I do," he says and shrugs. "I like everything about them."

"Including them using you as transportation?"

"If it makes them smile, yeah," he says, grinning.

"They don't always smile, you know," she says.

"I know," he says. "But if I can make them smile, I will."

"What if the child's not naturally... smiley?" She knows she hadn't been.

"Then I try to make them happy," he says. "If they don't smile, that's all right. There's ways to know they're happy."
