TGI Friday's, Cambridge, MA- Monday night

Aeryn's learned that some dates have meaning, that the time between one yearly milestone and the next can be a really big deal. Thinking from last August 13 to this one, making it through an entire year almost deserves a congratuations.

Which is why she's seriously pissed off that the little blonde bitch with the stupid name that she never remembers called in sick again and didn't get anyone to cover for her, which means Aeryn is pulling a double shift on her anniversary and trying really hard not to threaten customers or coworkers.

John knew what the date was. So, after his classes and checking in on Callisto at home, it was a very different looking John that came into TGI Friday's.

He was wearing a fake mustache, a really bad wig and a pair of eyeglasses.

He took a seat, nodded kindly at the hostess and tried to find Aeryn over the top of the menu.

Aeryn's over in her section, restraining herself from killing a mother who doesn't seem to notice that her toddler-age brat is smearing food in his crying sister's hair and figuring if there's not a good tip for this, she's finding this woman in the parking lot when she leaves.

Meanwhile, one of the other waiters comes over to John, tossing down a paper coaster. "Hi there and welcome to TGI Friday's. My name's Mark, I'll be your waiter. Can I get you started with anything to drink?"

Using his best accent (incidentally, similar sound to Aeryn's), John ordered a Coke from Mark.

Of course, his best accent really sucked.

Mark frowned, but didn't say anything about it. "Okay then," he said. "Are you ready to order or did you need a few minutes?"

Aeryn, not noticing Mark's bewigged customer, passed by, muttering obscenities that could still probably be heard by anyone with ears. At least they were mostly in English.

John laughed when he heard Aeryn and then said to Mark, "That wasn't to you. I was remembering a joke someone told me. And can I have...pancakes?"

"...We don't serve breakfast here," Mark said slowly. "But I could tell you the specials, if you want."

Over at the cash register, Aeryn just caught the look on Mark's face and tried not to laugh. Fine, he could get the difficult one this time.

"Specials," he said, nodding. "Hit me with them."

Mark listed off the specials, including the appetizers, very very quickly, like he was waiting for John to insist he'd heard 'pancakes' in there somewhere.

Aeryn passed by again on the way to give her table back their change, and that might have been a bit of a double take when she looked up.

John smiled over at Aeryn and then asked Mark, "Do you have beet casserole?"

Poor Mark looked really confused. "No," he started, barely saved by Aeryn, who announced, "I'm taking your table."

"But it's my table," Mark said.

"Not now it isn't," Aeryn told him.

He apparently either decided that she scared him enough to give it up, or that this customer could be her problem, because he said he'd get John's Coke and headed off.

"Nice hair," Aeryn greeted him.

John busted out the fake accent again. "You think? I just had it styled? You sure you don't have pancakes?"

"Positive, I could recite the whole frelling menu by now," Aeryn said. "What are you doing here?"

He pulled out a large bouquet of flowers from a bag near his foot.

"Happy anniversary."

Aeryn would be completely lying if she said she wasn't pleased by that. "You didn't have to do this," she smiled.

"I wanted to," he said, grinning from beneath his mustache. "I can get up and proclaim my love for you to the restaurant?"

"In diguise?" she asked, flicking the end of his moustache with her finger.

"Sure," he said and made to stand up on his chair.

Aeryn's eyes went really wide. "Wait, you were serious?"

"Why not?" And he's actually on the chair now in the middle of the restaurant.

And people were definitely watching. "John! Get down from there," she hissed.

He did as asked and sat back down in his seat. "Can I have some mozzarella sticks?"

"Depends on what kind of tip I'll get," Aeryn said, but she was smiling. Look at that, a joke.

"I'll give it to you at home," he told her and winked.

A woman at a nearby table choked.

Aeryn bit her lip, smile widening. "Anything else?"

"A milkshake," he said.
