Room 238, Sunday afternoon

Aeryn is just about to step out of the shower when she hears a now-familiar little bark. At eye level. Her first reaction is to hide mostly behind the shower curtain. "No playing now," she says. "Let me get dressed first."

Vladdie barks again and tries to lick her nose.

"Yes, thank you," Aeryn tells him. "Out of the bathroom. Then we'll play."

Vladdie licks her chin this time.

Aeryn sighs.

"John, you are in so much trouble," she says, and kicks the toaster on purpose this time.

John's too busy laughing on the bed, Vladdie's barking at him, and Bertram is skittering around at Aeryn's feet again.

Thought you could knock me out via deep freeze?
My oh my those pants are a tight squeeze!

Aeryn glares at John, and picks the toaster up. "And it's back to the freezer for you."

"That doesn't even make any sense," she says, opening the freezer door.

Vladdie and Bertram both rush her, Vladdie by flight and Bertram by floor.

"That's better," Aeryn says, picking Vladdie up from the air and attempting to step over Bertram rather than step on him.

John is still laughing from his spot on the bed.

"See, this is why everything is still a very very long time in the future," she tells him, coming over anyway.

"Why's that?" he asks, making room. "I'm just laughing."

"Encouraging it," she points out.

"Was not," he says. "I was just laughing because it was funny. You versus the toaster is funny."

"The toaster got out somehow," she says, and Vladdie's back to licking her hand.
